Early arrival in Paris gives you time to connect with your flight to Cairo. Arrival in the Land of the Pharaohs. At Cairo
International airport you will be welcomed and assisted through immigration and customs by our representative,
then escorted to your hotel.

Monday, 15 Mar 2010 • Cairo • Full Day Cairo Tour
After breakfast depart on a morning visit to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities which includes the world’s largest collection of Pharaonic artefacts and the treasures of Tutankhamen’s tomb.

After lunch, drive to Old Cairo to visit Al Moallaka Church (Hanging Church) and Ben Ezra Synagogue. Stop for lunch.

Afternoon visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. Then proceed to Khan El Khalili, the worlds largest
13th century covered oriental bazaar. Return to the hotel.

Tuesday, 16 Mar 2010 • Cairo • Full Pyramids Tour
After breakfast you will be escorted to tour to the ruins of the city of Memphis and the necropolis of Sakkara site of the Step Pyramid of Zoser. Lunch included.

This evening, transfer to the Train Station to board your Sleeper train to Aswan. You are accommodated in air-conditioned first class sleeper rooms which includes your dinner and breakfast. Dinner on Board.

Wednesday, 17 Mar 2010 • Aswan/Kom Ombo
Breakfast on Board of your Sleeper Train. Upon arrival you will be escorted to your cruise ship where you will spend the next 3 nights / 4 days. Accommodation aboard your cruise ship will consist of outside junior suite cabin with private facilities.

Your touring starts with a visit to the High Dam, the Granite Quarries with the Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae. You will get a view of Kitchener’s Island botanical garden and the Agha Khan Mausoleum by felucca. Sail
to Kom Ombo during the night.

Thursday, 18 Mar 2010 • Kom Ombo/Edfu/Luxor
After breakfast, visit the Temple of Sobek and Haroeris, (also known simply as Kom Ombo Temple) dates from
about 180 BC during the Ptolemaic era, with additions made into Roman times. After the visit sail to Edfu, on arrival travel by horse-drawn carriage to the Temple of Horus, the falcon-god, (237 B.C.) considered the best-preserved temple in Ancient Egypt and the second largest after the Temple of Karnak. Sail to Esna, passing through the Esna Lock, and continue to Luxor.

Friday, 19 Mar 2010 • Luxor
After breakfast, visit Karnak and Luxor Temples, a centuries-old city of pylons, hypostyle halls, colossal statues, shrines and obelisks. Evening optional Sound & Light Show at the Karnak Temple.

Saturday, 20 Mar 2010 • Luxor/Cairo
After breakfast, Disembarkation and Visit the West Bank including the Valley of the Kings, the funerary temple of
Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. Transfer to the train Station in Luxor to board your sleeper train to Cairo. Dinner on Board.

Upon arrival in Cairo you will be met and escorted to your hotel. Free day for shopping, sightseeing or simply wandering

Transfer to Cairo International Airport for your departure flight and onward connection to Canada.

Entry Requirements:
A visa is required for Egypt and may be obtained from the Egyptian Consulate Office in your area. A visa may also
be obtained upon arrival in Egypt at a cost of US $25.00 per person. Please have the correct amount available.
 
Medical Requirements
No immunizations are required, unless you have visited an area infected with smallpox, yellow fever or cholera
before arriving in Egypt. When visiting Kenya you will be required to provide a certificate for vaccination for yellow
fever prior to re-entering Egypt.
 
Passport Registration:
It is important that you register with the Passport department within one week of your arrival in Cairo. Your hotel will normally register your passport and return it within 24 hours.
 
Currency:
The local currency is the Egyptian pound (LE) LE 1=100 Piasters. Exchange your money at banks or at the counter
of your hotel. Black market exchanges are illegal and can cause you much trouble.
 
Climate:
The best season is from September through June, when the temperature in Cairo is comfortable in the daytime, and cool or even cold at night. Weather in Upper Egypt, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel is comfortably warm. During the summer months Cairo is hot and dry, Upper Egypt is extremely hot, and sightseeing should be done early
mornings.
 
What to Wear:
Winter months: Bring sweaters and a light coat for cool evenings. Women should bring slacks or walking (long)
shorts for sightseeing, long sleeved dress, Men should bring a jacket for nightclub visits. Pack a bathing suit if
visiting Aswan and Luxor or if taking a Nile Cruise. Summer months: Lightweight clothing, a sweater for cool Cairo
evenings.

AT ALL TIMES: Modesty in clothing should be observed, wear bathing suits and shorts at the beach or swimming pools only. A good rule is to cover your back and shoulders outside of the hotel area. Women should cover their arms when visiting mosques. Bring comfortable walking shoes for sightseeing and walking on desert sand. Sunglasses, as well as sun visors, hats and scarves are recommended as protection against the strong sun. On a Nile cruise dress is strictly informal.
 
Remember to Pack:
Talcum powder to help keep you cool. Mosquito repellent. Sun Block. A flashlight will come in handy for the dim light of the tombs and museums.
 
Health Precautions:
Drink only bottled water with no ice! Eat in the hotel restaurants or in the leading restaurants. Be sure your food is well cooked. Peel all your fruits and eat only vegetables that have been cooked or that you can peel. In the summer months drink plenty of bottled water, carry some with you at all times while sightseeing. Be careful of fruit juices as they may be diluted with local water. Carry a bottle of medication for upset stomachs. Pack sunscreen!
